It's never in the green

I tried to post earlier but it kept screwing up.
Spent the better part of the day chatting and ripping streams. Since the reunion of the damned is tomorrow, and everything Majestic related will disappear in a putrid cloud leaving only a fetid stench, (nice imagery, eh?) myself and some of the others decided to make a grab for the only good part about the whole thing: the music. I ripped some of the energy and spooky streams, though energy seemed to be the most popular. I also made sure to grab the little start up music that proceeded each stream. in total, I got about two hours of stuff, which, coincidentally, is how long the total interactive game play spanned.

Lately, if you've noticed, I've complained on occasion about the performance of my computer. RAM is not my friend as of late. With only 128 megs of the stuff under the hood of this otherwise cutting edge, (or as close as can be considered in fact that I didn't buy the system tomorrow,) it is the system's downfall. I have this little icon in the tray, very easy to read. it's made up of little bars. The bottom bar is red, meaning little to no free RAM. The bar above that is yellow, meaning there is some RAM. Green is optimal. Unfortunately, I can't seem to free up any more than 50 megs at any given time. Right now, I'm sitting at 30. That means things are slow to start, and much frustration ensues. The problem has been managable up until recently. Sure, playing RVR in DAoC was futile, with the computer chugging along to keep up with what was going on, now just playing DAoC would be a pain. A slow, lingering pain. Not that I would know, sicne I haven't logged on in weeks. Hopefully I can scrape enough spare change together to buy a couple of sticks of RAM soon and shut the hell up.

So sitting here waiting for the game to begin, (which it doesn't look like it's going to happen. How many weeks in a row has it been?) I decided to listen to Jagwac radio. Why, you ask?

Well here's the story.

Earlier in the week, I talked to BahktiBlessing. It has been this side of forever since I've talked to BB, but I had to mention the "Reunion of the Damned" as I call it, (Tuesday April 30th, Howard Johnson cafeteria room, Route 401,) in the old MA lounge. In the course of the conversation, Bahkti mentioned starting a DJ position at Jagwac on Sunday. I promised I'd listen, which I'm doing even as I'm writing, I just forgot to ask what time. I'll sit here and listen and if asked I'll say BB did an awesome job.

So I've pimped it, mentioned I'm listening and even saying hello to BB, since Bahkti mentioned reading this blog on occasion. Colour me surprised. Of course, I'm surprised and a little flattered when anyone says they read anything I wrote under their own free will.

So how is everyone been this week? Uh huh....uh huh....Listen, shut up. If I wanted to hear about YOU I'd be reading your blog. I'll read about your life later.

So the vacation is officially started. No more projects, no more tests, no more stress related to academia. Instead, it's money woes. At least I change it up a bit. I'd be outside enjoying myself but the weather is extremely wonky. Yesterday was: sunny, then cloudy, then sunny again, then warm, cold, warm, cool, brisk, it snowed, was sunny again, then clouded over. Yes, I'm blaming the weather for my nerdish leanings of not leaving the house or the immediate area of the computer. (That's where all me friends are!)

Plans thus far: Spend at least one evening this weekend drinking. Tuesday's "Reunion of the Damned", and trying my damnedest to get tickets to the opening night of Spider-man. 'Tis a geek's life.

I finally decided to update the links. With so many moving around, I figured it should be done. There's BD, EC, Matt, John (Don't know what I'm gonna do. Leave it? Take it off?) and Jin I believe. Then moving around the ring just as I'm about to fix em, I find BD has gone offline, at least for the moment. Maybe the 404 is part of a new design.

Drastic measures

So I got up early this morning and it turned out the class was just a wrap up. Not even anything to finish, just some pointless busy work. After that I had to wait around for two hours to write a test. The test took me fifteen minutes.

I guess I shouldn't complain though, I don't really have it tough. No real exams, just a few minor tests. I'm sure if I was loaded with exams I be forced to take drastic measures.

I've been trying to think of things to do while I'm off. I know I'll spend the first few days sleeping as long as I can. I'll also have to make time to hit the library or bookstore. I plan on spending some time out back in the hammock. Other than that, I have nothing really to do that comes to mind. A buddy had talked earlier about taking a vacation to Mexico or something, which would be cool, but I doubt that'll happen. At least not for me anyways.

Money is still up in the air. This whole break from school could turn into a long vacation. Heh. That would be funny actually. "Where's Adam?" "He takes vactations a little too seriously." I'm sure I'll manage something, even if it means taking on some debt. Some high interest, crushing debt. I was hoping to avoid that route, but we'll see.

The countdown continues, as countdowns normally do and it'll be great to have dug myself out of this pile of work.

Yesterday was a good day...Unlike the usual crap that fills my days.

Yesterday was fantastic. Slept in, which is always a perfect way to start the day. Went to class, only to be let out forty minutes early. I guess the prof. was as bored as we were. I also found out my marks were good enough to be exempted from the exam. W00t! This means I'm done Friday. I had to stay late to work in the lab on my final project though that only took an hour and a half. Headed home and got off the bus early to walk the rest of the day since it was a beautiful night. Picked up a Tim Hortons coffee and just to compliment my day, the usual idiots working at the Timmy's near my place didn't screw it up.

Today was almost as good. Up early, but it was already 16C by 6:30. High of 26C, (which means nice for all you backwards Americans.) First day of the year to wear shorts. A buddy commented I looked like I was already on vacation. I figure if Friday is as nice as it was today, I'm wearing shorts, sandals and a Hawaiian shirt. Nothing like a fashion statement.

Waiting for the announcement this week so I can buy my Spider-man tickets in advance. I'm looking forward to the movie, though I don't know if I want to sit shoulder to shoulder with geeks who are sure to show up either decked out in total Spider-man merchandise and clothing, or even dressed up in homemade costumes. I would just be embarassed for them.

So I thought to myself this afternoon, "Wow, what a beautiful day. The weather is warm, the sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky. A perfect day for a beer, a book and a hammock." Unfortunately I said this to myself as I was on my way to work. No problem I thought, it'll be over soon. Boy did that time drag. I don't know if there was a city wide memo or if people just have a low tolerance for heat, but every guy who came in needed a shower. Hell, they needed to be sandblasted. I'm not talking about regular BO. I'm talking about rancid bacon smell.

Then of course, there were they geniuses who came in with observations such as "Boy, it's a nice day." Or "It's not cold out there right now." Well no shit Sherlock. Though I wish people would stop asking me if I think the temperature outside right at the moment is nice since I haven't been outside for hours.

Five days without a fresh blog. I feel so lazy about it. Too bad that isn't the case. I'll take this brief ten minutes before I have to rush off again and update.

First, my biggest question: What happend Sunday? I was there, Nick was there, EC was there. Is there a reasonable explanation? Or should I assume Matt couldn't figure out a clock? :-)

Anyway, things are starting to calm down. Two final projects to do. Unfortunately I haven't had time to start one of them yet and it's due Friday. Thursday is officially "Haul Ass" day. After a few brief tests. (No real exams that I know about) and that should be it. Even if there were exams I'd doubt I'd stress too much. I'm the kid who was in your class who did average or even better than you but didn't study at all. Chalk it up to apathy and laziness.

Still waiting to hear back from the company I applied to. Both the phone and in person interviews went well, (or at least I thought so,) and I was told two to three weeks before I heard anything. I just want to know. Though I'm still overhearing other people talking about how they've just gotten an appointment for their second interview so it may be another week or two. God, in a perfect, rational world, they'd interview me then tell everyone else "Thank you, but the position has been filled."

What a day, what a day. Didn't get to sleep until nearly 4 am last night. I hate it when something takes longer than it should. I especially hate it when it's something tedious. I got about 2 to 3 hours sleep so I wasn't the happiest camper this morning. Big rush in class to get stuff in on time, then I got to relax. The usual Friday routine of pool and video games. Jammed my finger on the Simpsons bowling machine. The controls are like a golf game, with that rollerball. They weren't designed for the long fingered induvidual like myself. Ended up screwing me out of my 300 game. Anyway....Got home around 2 but noone was in the chatroom. Haven't talked to you guys in over a week. I'm sure you're missing me. :-) Nearing the end of all the work I need to have done. A project due Tuesday, two due Friday with another due Wednesday plus some tests thrown in for good measure. Hopefully I'll fnd a chance to get a full night's sleep in. But barring that, I hope I find time for a beer.

The (war) journal of the (mentally) dead

So close I can taste it. The final destination. That light at the end of the tunnel is already warming me with it's glow. I've almost managed to claw my way out of this dungheap of work.

Sunday:
Went to work. I had been given extra time since the boss wanted to spend time with family. Apparently I wouldn't mind since I have no family to spend time with. My parents will be so surprised. Get home a short while after seven and get online around seven thirty. EC pops in instantly: "Where were you half an hour ago!?" Got stuck at work and wasn't even sure we were playing that night. Turns out Matt cancelled it when only he and EC showed. Worried that Matt would throw in the towel concerning D&D. hope that doesn't happen.

Monday:
Decided I would forget about class on Monday since I had work that needed to be done, including, but not limited to an essay that was due Wednesday. I figured I'd get up early and write then get the other stuff done after. Woke up around 11 am instead. Dad was doing taxes. Screw that plan. Spent the next few hours drinking coffee and watching TV. Procrastination is the monkey on my back.

Tuesday:
Head to class on time. Early class but despite the fact I only caught four and a half hours sleep, I feel awake. Today is supposed to be the day my group records our ad for our fake business for our english class. A few show up briefly, but it doesn't matter since the guy who had set up the recording session with his roommate didn't show. Spent the rest of the day finishing my essay.

Wednesday:
Forgot I hadn't done a bibliography, but once again can't use the computer, dad's still doing taxes. Screw it then. At least I'm getting an OK tax return. Handed in the essay. It is complete bull and rambles on without the confinement of making any points whatsoever. At least the title page was bitchin'. Now it's on to worrying about tomorrow's presentation, and the two projects due Friday. Then the three due next week. Luckily my course is slim in the way of final exams. Can't even call them exams.

Soon I shall be able to relax. I will be out of the tunnel called school. Unfortunately it'll only last four months. Stupid cyclical tunnels.
