I have the monkey by the tail. Unfortunately, HE has a board with a nail in it.

First off, let me point out that's a really bad drawing of myself. Hell, it's a shitty drawing in general. I didn't take my time, I did it late and I was (am) tired from a long, tedious day. If I promise one thing to you people this year, it's this: I promise that I will post at least one piece of art, or as close as I get to "art" that does not suck the dog's ass and ask for more.

Moving on.

This week has been hectic. Full time hours at work this week, which is good since I can use the money.

For the first time, I have to pay tuition in installments. I used to have it all up front previous years which caused less strain and pressure money-wise. Chalk it up to spending a couple of months unemployed and nt saving enough when I should have. Live and learn.

My schedule for the fall semester looks pretty good. Not a lot of class time, until I think of all the outside class hours I'll have to put in completing the projects.

Work wants me in for 2 pm on Friday. My class isn't over until 4 so I normally wouldn't be able to ake it until 5. Luckily it's the first week so the classes will just be a "here's what to expect" kind of thing. After that, though, they'd better give me shifts that work with my class hours or else what was the point of giving work a copy of my class schedule?

I went to the campus to pick up my bus pass and as soon as I walked in the doors, I felt my skin crawl. On the one hand, it'll be great to get back to class doing something I enjoy, seeing classmates who are all really cool and just living the college life, (or as close as I get to it anyways,) but there will always be that part of me that wishes I could just go and relax.

Not surprising, really. I think that this is probably the last summer I'll have as a student then I try to remember the last time I had a vacation. I mean an actual vacation, not a day or two off. I have to think back at least 4 years. It's hard to even remember what a vacation is at this point. Hopefully I'll eventually be able to take one again. What a life.

A life, I gotta remember to get me one of those.

It's that time once again...

Now that the personal post is out of the way, we get to the only commonly occuring event here:

First off, we have "spider monkey pics." Why? I'd rather not know myself

Next, "sample reasons for turning down our offer." Whatever the hell that means.
It's supposed to be an offer you can't refuse. The internet isn't going to help you on this one.

Then a couple of the usual "daoc hack." If you're too stupid to play the game without hacks, maybe you have a lawsuit against the doctor that delivered you. He apparently smacked you too hard.

Someone actually searched for "combustion monkey." That animal doesn't really exist, you know that right? Anyone looking for me specifically who knew about combustion monkey would know I owned the domain. I must know some stupid people.

For the first time ever, someone got here using song lyrics that weren't this land is your land. "you can dance, you can sing, like a puppet on a string" She does talk crazy talk. Mumbo jumbo, even.

"kirsten dunst - bring it on-song lyrics" There was actually a song? Was it the one at the beginning of the movie? Or the Mickey cover they did at the end? Wait, I don't give a shit.

"you put the beer in the coconut and you throw the can away" Damn you, Simpson hacks. You should know the scripts off by heart like the rest of us. And remember to recycle!

"woman buys shoes" This is either the result of some really stupid person getting at a keyboard, or some pervert looking to satisfy his fetish. Hi Matt!

"nwn crack" Sorry, the only games you can associate that word with are Everquest or a huge failure. (Read: Majestic)

"batman latex costume pattern" Thank god no matter how much of a geek I am sometimes, there are people like this who kept me from getting stuffed into lockers during high school.

"you put the beer in the coconut" Sorry, someone already asked about that today.

"(labbatt Blue jokes)" The only joke right now is that I'm not drunk yet.

"DAoC hack" Why do you losers keep bothering me with this?

"this land is your land lyrics from bonavista" Damn it. I thought I'd be able to get away once without someone looking for this. I posted them for you people once. It's in the archives. Go look for it.

I should be a national institution. Or just in an institution.

Some call me...Tim

My pirate name is Black Sam Flint, just for future reference.

What the fuck happened to my comments? I'd like to know. I didn't touch em, so who did it? Was it you Jeffy? Not me? Right. Guess who's going to hit you with a two by four. Not me.

Summer is quickly coming to a close. On the one hand it means more work in the coming months, but on the other it'll be good to get back to school. I can't believe I said that. I was never one who hated school, but I'd always choose vacation over class. I guess as you grow older, you mature. Or it could be as soon as you add a bar to the learning institution, it's not so bad.

I finally got a hold of a friend of mine who's come back to the city for the past couple of months. We'd gone out for dinner back in July and I told her to keep in touch. I told her today I called since I was getting no reply to my emails and had better talk with her before the promise "To keep in touch" became a farce, much like the "have a good summer, we should hang out" you write in the yearbooks of people you don't like very much. Not that I ever did that. No, I'd just be really insulting to the people I didn't like. Why waste time physically bullying someone when it's so much easier to inflict mental and emotional anguish that lasts for a long time? Bruises and wounds heal, therapy lasts for years.

Another friend called today because he's applied to my store and is finally getting his final interview. He was supposed to have it last Friday but a certain event happened, (thank you, Ohio, idiots,) that caused the store to shut down and thus cancel the interview. The final interview is supposed to be with the general manager, but they called my friend because the GM has to go to Toronto, so the interview will be with the manager who interviewed him last time. He was worried that this would hurt his chances of getting the job. I reminded him as long as he remembers to wear pants, he should do fine.

Sid Hoffman or Sid Frenchman?

Hello, technology

Ten minutes after four yesterday the power goes out. Assuming it was just a regular outage, I didn't give it much thought. Told it's out all over Ontario and parts of the States, I of course took that with a grain of salt. Right, I thought. But it was. I even went into work. Pointless, I know since everything was down, we couldn't ring through any sales, the demos were down, and no customer was in the store. So I got to reorganize some stuff, find out who our new senior was, console a fellow coworker because she was overlooked despite being fulltime and qualified to fill the position. Instead one of the cashiers was brought in to fill the opening. Great, just great. I get to take orders from someone who doesn't know a thing about the department. Looks like we'll be stuck training her.

I feel like I'm in a god damned Dilbert cartoon sometimes

You can sing you can dance, just keep it in your pants

Well the new RAM certainly is helping. now to do what I always do after an upgrade: Fill the hard drive up with game demos!

Check and check.

On days that I feel down and out, thinking about footage of people throwing garbage and stuff at Justin Timberlake during the big concert the other week in TO makes me smile. Go on, imagine it. He's trying to perform while trying to dodge a barrage of trash. See? You're smiling too.

I'd take a course like Matt mentioned. I wouldn't pay for it, but I'd take it. "A staple of nerd subculture for almost three decades." Right. Who's the bigger nerd? Those paying to play or those paying to study those who play? Just call me when the Quake, UT, Planetside and Battlefield 1942 classes start.

Classes begin in the fall

Just a laxidasical day

Excuse me if I spelled that wrong, I've been drinking.

I bought a 256 meg upgrade of RAM today. Hopefully that will be a big improvement and change my thinking that "RD RAM" is geek speak for "ass".

Since I also had a few free hours today, I also saw the new Tomb Raider movie. It was something I had told myself I wasn't going to do. The film makers decided to follow Eidos' creation mantra of "If it makes us a shit ton of money, don't update or improve on it." Now while the sequel wasn't as bad as the first one, it was still crap. And it started off with so much promise, too. Perhaps if they do a third they'll realize what has made the Lara Croft character so popular over the years and focis the entire movie on that. Here's a hint; it isn't character depth. Though I every time I see that butler of hers onscreen I think "That's Rimmer!"

Stupid British comedies. Stupid lack of T and A
