DO...YOU...UNDERSTAND...THE...WORDS...COMING...OUT...OF...MY...MOUTH?!Someone please tell me when telling your bosses that you can work the morning shift on a couple of days but not the evening shifts because you have stuff planned became "Yes sir! Please totally buttfuck my plans!"
The plans I'm referring to involve next Thursday and Friday. Thursday night is the Hallowe'en pub, which is being put on by the graphic design students to raise money for our grad show. I purchased my ticket and was looking forward to it, assured that I'd be able to go since I had OKed the night off from work. The Friday was a friend's Hallowe'en party. I, again, had said I was coming because I was assured that I would have the night off.
The schedule comes out and, surprise! I'm working both nights! Well fuck. So now I have to cancel my plans. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but I so rarely make plans, so it's a fucking pissoff to have to cancel them.
I had told my supervisor of my costume idea and he loved it. I had planned to go as Agent Smith from the Matrix movies. Basically throw a black suit on me and it's a pretty good likeness. The hairline is definitely there, sad to say.
So after finding out my schedule, my supervisor asks if I'll still be wearing the costume. "Why bother?" I asked. "I have to cancel my plans so there's no point in getting a costume at all if I can't go to the parties." "You could wear it to work." "Why would I spend the money just to wear it to work? I'd want to wear it to a party. If I was still going, then yeah, I could wear it to work as well." "At least you could still wear it to work." Double checking my schedule showed that Hallowe'en night, I'm working the truck. Who the hell in there right mind would wear a black suit to work in a warehouse unloading a truck? I mean really, just fuck off.
On the plus side, the usual graduating year of raising enough money to have our grad book printed has been eliminated this year. A CEO of a printing company in our area got in touch with the department head and said that he'd seen some of the earlier grad books and while the designs were good, the print was shit. Though what can you expect in terms of printing from students paying for it through fundraising and having it digitally printed? There's only so much that they could pay for. So said CEO offered to print it for us. For free. This grad book is going to be fucking sweet. All the money we will raise can now go to our grad show.
Hopefully it won't turn out like the summer class grad show. They rented out the Grand Theatre, it looked fantastic, I'm told. The day it was scheduled for, as fate would have it, was also the day of the major blackout. Now these grad shows aren't just so friends and families can see what the students have done the past few years of their lives, but they also invite people from agencies and printshops and such, in hopes of making contacts that will help them get jobs. So having the power go out, meant the show was closed and no one showed up. Such a shame.
Jeez, how many times did I say "fuck" in this post?

Bang bang, my baby shot me downSaw Kill Bill on Friday. Sorry, I mean Kill Bill Volume 1. Damn them cutting the movie in half. I could have easily sat for another two hours to see the entire film, instead of returning in February to see part 2. I'm not so sure about my friends, however.
The women in the group hated it, which sort of didn't surprise me. My buddy kept getting nudged by his girlfriend just so she could shrug and shake her head at him. I half expected them to walk out.
My buddy said he expected it to be action from start to finish. Odd, since I thought he had seen a Tarantino film before. I told him that no Tarantino film had ever been action all the way through. "What about Dusk Till Dawn?" "Apparently you've completely forgotten about the first half of that movie." "OK...AH! Desperado! That was action all the way through!" "Tarantino only had a cameo in that film. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez."
They also didn't like the anime flashback of Lucy Lui's character's background. I found it original and creative. They also didn't like the black and white sword fight scene.
Perhaps I was mistaken and they never have seen a Tarantino film.
Looks like I'll be seeing part two by myself.

Have I died? Can I?Jeebus. I'm scheduled for 33.5 hours this week. Add to that the 20 hours for school plus whatever lab time I'll do and you're are looking at one tired guy. Plus the past few weeks I've basically given up sleep and food due to being so damned busy. It ain't fun living on four hours sleep a night and two pieces of toast. Prisoners live better than this.
My birthday came and went with no fanfare. People forgot, and on and on. That night I went to my buddy's wrestling show. He wanted to get me in the ring to take a beating for my birthday. Sure, why not I said. A preshow practice and I landed a chokeslam wrong. Landed on my side and my head bounced off the mat hard. So that's what minor whiplash feels like.
The plan changed slightly so I also got to go out with him and hang at ringside. At one point, he got thrown to the outside and was being attacked by three guys. A few people we knew in the crowd started yelling at me to go help him. So I got into one guy's face figuring he wouldn't hit me since I still had my hat and glasses on. A tip to keep in mind, it turns out wrestlers will hit a guy with glasses. With a pylon. He cracked me in the head, I go down partially to sell it, partially since it was a complete surprise and slightly because it it hurt a bit. All of a sudden, wham! A blow to the ribs. The pylon is now a makeshift club. Deciding I better crawl away, I get the square bottom straight the the back. Now just to let you know, no matter what, that hurts.
So after that, what do they do when they pull me in the ring to get the beating I was supposed to get? A pathetic stomping. I injured myself more rolling out of the ring and landing on my shoulder on the cement. Yeesh.
I did get a 20" flat screen TV as a gift from my parents. That was nice.
Back to the grind
