Do I still live here?

Thank God it's almost over, even for a little while. My Christmas break begins Dec. 5th and I can't wait. Just a few more projects. Of course, it's not the projects that are bugging me, I have no doubt I'll get them done in time. It's just been so damned hectic lately. Between classes, work, and money worries, I'm surprised my head hasn't exploded yet. Top it off, Christmas means the Christmas rush will start at work, (yay retail!) Christmas presents to buy, meaning more debt to pay off and the only downside to the break from classes means that when I go back I'll be rusty again and my projects will suck, hurting my marks.

I can understand slightly why suicide rates are higher this time of year.

Everything that has a beginning has an end. Not to mention plot holes

So I saw Matrix Revolutions last night. For the second time, just in case you were wondering if it's worth seeing. It looks like the general consensus is that it's an OK movie, just not fantastic. I'm in no position to disagree. While it is easy on the eyes and possible to sit through it a few times without being bored, it didn't really contain anything that wowed me that the first movie or some of the scenes of the second movie had. And I probably will be posting spoilers but I don't care.

Though I will tell you that this is better than the second one. This has a plot that actually goes somewhere, though basically makes any characters or events from Reloaded absolutely moot.

Reloaded had these rogue programs to fight, which was a departure from the point of the first movie, which was to defeat the machines and free humanity. The second was some pointless foray to get to the "source" after finding the Keymaker, blah, blah, blah. The third is trying to stop the machines from destroying Zion. This leads Neo to head to the machine city for some reason.

In the Matrix, Neo can fly, stop bullets and knows kung fu. He has to fight every bad guy who comes his way. In the real world, he can blow up machines with a thought. Can someone explain that to me? How the hell can he do that? He's learned to bend and break some rules in the Matrix so he can now blow up machines?

Zion has to defend itself from the machines that are digging down to their city. I'm not sure how the machines knew where the city was since in the first movie they desperatly wanted the codes to the city's mainframe. If they could just dig to the city, why bother with the codes? The humans have their guns that shoot lightning and big mech suits that shoot John Woo style. They basically get beaten down until a ship shows up and fires it's EMP. If an EMP is all it takes, why do they only have them on the ships? They don't need Neo to save them, they just need a bunch of EMPS. Of course that wouldn't leave much of a conflict. Just like Neo having to fight programs instead of jumping inside them and blowing them up.

Agent Smith takes over everyone in the Matrix. He did it to that one guy in the second movie and took over his body, so the guy is dead. So when Agent Smith takes over everybody, I'd assume they'd all be dead too. But I guess it makes sense when you had plot holes. I can understand the programs returning to normal because the Matrix would have a backup of them, but everyone else should be gone.

Neo plugs into the Matrix at the machine city and somehow that lets the Matrix purge the system of Smith when Neo is converted. So yes, he dies. And could they make the connection between him and Jesus any more obvious? He's dying and he's in a crucifixion position. It switches to a "matrix light" view and he's got a big glowing cross on his chest, the wires connected to his body look like wings, and on and on.

The architect shows up at the end and says that everyone who wants out of the Matrix will be released. The reason peopple were connected in the first place was as a power source. The machines need that power to survive. What the hell are they going to use? Pardon me, I injured myself falling through another plot hole.

So overall it's one of those movies you enjoy if you don't think while viewing. Thankfully, they avoided any diatribes like in number two that cause your head to explode trying to figure out what was just said and turns out it's pointless and doesn't matter. As long as you turn off your brain, you'll enjoy it. It's only afterwards you go "wait a minute..."

With so many plot holes, it's surprising the Matrix doesn't colapse on itself.
