Damn Straight I Moved Every ZigOld school Internet subculture.
So I went from having one project done, to being near done my flash site and halfway through my grad show display done. So despite normally being one to take procrastination to new heights of dallying, I can move my sweet ass and get shit done when need be.
Saw the first grad book today, straight from the printers. Lemme tell ya, it looks SWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT!
It was perfect, until looking at my spread, the phrase "What's that?" came up. Turns out, there was an overprint on the lower right corner of my right side page. It has the contact info of another page on it. It's partially hidden since it was white and it went on a mostly white area, but you can still tell. Dammit all.
But what can I do? Nothing. So I'll fall back to my old mantra of "fuck it." Now I just need to finish up the last few projects and I'm golden. I can see myself falling onto my other oft-used mantra of "Good enough for government work."
I just need to work out the last kink of my display to get some sort of hinge working on the pieces. Can't use any actual door hinge since it's foamcore, so I'm thinking a heavy paper/construction paper. That should work. And I also need to scrounge up some stuff to lock the pieces in place once opened. Simple.

It Makes Sense To SOMEONEI have about five projects due in the next few weeks. That's not even including the grad show display I have to get done for Friday that I haven't gotten near enough done on.
So Which project to I get out of the way first? The one due next Tuesday? The one Thursday? Even the display for Friday?
No! I get the one due the 19th done first. It's the last project I have to hand in. There's still the flash site, the pakage redesign, the business identity PDF, the editorial cartoon, and of course, the previously mentioned display.
Then there will still be the grad site/portfolio/resume flash thing to do. Nice how they leave that to the last minute for us to scramble on.
When this is over, I'm crawling into bed and not moving for two weeks.

This One Goes Out To The Few Of You Who Get The JokeNext time I say anything about being deadline free for the next while, smack some sense into me, because I've jinxed it. I was reminded today that a project is due on Thursday. It's a "quickie" project. Good thing too, got it done in about two hours.
As tends to be the usual for me lately, I had time to kill in the evening waiting for a certain someone, so I used it to get ideas in my head down on paper. I need to do this frequently or the ideas nag at me and drive me nuts. They have to be put down on paper, even if what comes out looks like crap or is just quick sketch of the idea that I had. It just needs to be put on paper. And I have no choice but to listen. It's like the leprechaun that tells me to burn things.
Anyways, this has been floating around smacking me with a boot. So thanks Brian.

Things To Do In London With Free TimeWell it's over. Grad book stuff is out of the way and no projects, (at least none that I know of,) are due ASAP. Add to this that tomorrow I have to go into work for only three hours in the morning for a meeting and then I'm not working again until Friday night, I will have some R&R time on my hands. I'm thinking I deserve it.
Still have to track down the coordinator of the Multimedia course for next year. Figure I'll take an extra year and focus on Internet stuff. It sounds interesting and more web knowledge has yet to hurt anyone.
I'm not sure what I'll do to relax. I've already done the quasi-bender thing last weekend. It was only quasi since it was work, drink, work, drink. Then things got back to normal for a few days before the next party. I've been told I'm turning into a party animal, I disagree. I think of it more as getting it in before full time work crushes my soul and leaves little time for it.
I can stop any time. There, see? I stopped for a whole five seconds. Let's have a beer to celebrate

Another Night...
I'm really getting back into a groove here. Two nights, two drawings. Once again, me. They say draw what you love, what does that say about me? I'm an egotistical fuck, I don't deny it. It's once again two am. Maybe I'd draw something of interest if it wasn't so late, and I had some creative spark. Whadda ya think? Gimme some ideas here. (By here, I mean the comments.)
I've been told I'm pretty productive for late night. I disagree, I'm always productive. At least when I want to be. If I'm interested in what I'm doing especially.
What do you mean I have work I could be doing? Deadlines, what?

What You Do When You're Not Sleeping When You're Supposed ToI was looking through some of the links that get people here, and I cannot read the thread on the hh-ops.com forums that lead here. I don't know why there would be any type of link to my site from there. I doubt I've ever said anything of relevance.
Anyways.
I noticed a search result:
creative ideas on a monkey outfitNow I'm not a costume designer, but I think something like this:

That would be cool. Notice the costume is pantless too. No pants for monkeys! (Never mind my mascot.) It makes the suit better.
If someone were to make something like that, take a picture and send it to me. I'd post it in a heartbeat.
This is what my brain comes up with when it's tired. Scary, huh?

Wait, Can I Start The Day Over And Not Roll Out On The Stupid Side Of The Bed?I spent yesterday getting my grad cover done. It took two hours, then saved the files down in many different forms so I would be set for Kinko's.
Of course Kinko's, (or as I call it *EXPLATIVE DELETED!*) couldn't open the files properly. So headed home, picked up some extra blank CDs and headed to the lab.
Quark decided that I couldn't use the good way to save the files as a PDF, so I had to use the crappy way.
Then this morning I got up at 6:30 so I could get down the the printer first thing, since I figured it would take an hour or two.
How long? Ten minutes.
So I get it printed, colour looks like crap by the way, and mounted on boards. I then got my music video done, only to find I have to spend another ten bucks on a DVD-RW to burn the files. Why not just a DVD-R? Because the store didn't have any. Yeah, why not just hang a sign reading "Get fucked on supplies and shit here."?
Then to top it off, I find out that our morning class is cancelled and we're not doing any formal presentation in the afternoon class. So I'm overdressed. Which I hate to be if I don't need to be.
And it's only noon. Can't wait to see what the rest of the day has in store.

Using My Feet For The Important Stuff, Like High Fives And Eating SandwichesOh where to begin?
On the plus side, there's no strike. So classes aren't cancelled and the labs are still open so I can get my projects done there.
On the negative side, there's no strike. Which means that projects are due on the due dates and I had to spend my week of March break working on them instead of spending the majority of the week doing what I originally wanted to do, which is drink heavily. (Like I didn't do that anyways.)
So I had to spend time this week working on flash animations for a music video. As well as work on a design idea for the grad book cover. Both items are due Thursday, instead of "as soon as the strike is resolved." Oh how nice that would have been. Well the grad cover would've been due Thursday regardless, since we have a print deadline. The strike would have only made it difficult getting those in, deciding on a winner and then getting everything together from everybody in the winning template.
In other design news, my
buddy is getting married and asked me to design a wedding site for her and hubby-to-be. Actually, she first asked if I knew anybody who did web design. After figuring out she didn't realise that, well, I do web design, being a graphic designer of all things, I couldn't be insulted that she asked if I knew anyone instead of just asking me right away. Where am I going with this? Nowhere. That's a place.
That's basically it. I no longer seem to have anything to talk about other than graphic design stuff. It reminds me of the DAoC days, but instead of boring everyone with tales of a troll berserker in Midgard, I now bore everyone with tales of printouts, seperations and flash. And even fewer people understand what I'm talking about.
Even I don't half the time
