It BeginsSo the summer movie season is starting. It's a time I enjoy because there is a glut of movies that I generally want to see. Whether those movies are any good is, sadly, not always the case. This past weekend, I saw Van Helsing and Troy.
What I do when I hear a movie is going to be stupid, is I remind myself that it's the summer, it's a popcorn movie and I don't expect brilliance. I expect in case like that to sit down, shut of my brain for a few hours and watch some 'splosions. Lowering my standards like that helps immensely. What it doesn't protect against are movies without a single shred of coherent thought in the entire plot. Van Helsing is rife with stupidity, no question, but it is one of those movies that even with your brain shut down, the plot is so bad you still go "What the fuck?"
Troy, on the other hand, isn't as braindead. It's still the usual hollywood take on classic literature, so this is one of the nine times out of ten they do it badly. The acting for the most part wavers between bland and bad. Bland enough I was yawning between big fight scenes and bad enough I was wondering whether they had fourth graders act it out after one rehearsal to take notes on acting. Wooden is putting it lightly. I was hoping for another Gladiator from what I gleaned from the trailers. But I did not frequently check my watch and ask myself "Isn't this over yet?" while watching Gladiator.
Both movies seem to be movies that critics split about. They either thought they were great, mindless fun, or bad enough to stay away from. Van Helsing I've seen and I still don't understand what the hell was going on. Troy I may watch again when it comes to video, but not if I had to pay for the rental.
Here's hoping the movies get better from here.
Business is picking up

Every Girl's Crazy For A Sharp Dressed ManSo I said I'd post grad show pics when I had em, and I have some. So I'm going to post one, the only one that matters, which is me, of course.

I might post more later if I feel like it.
For beneath the mild mannered exterior is actually...SUPERMAN!

Might As WellI'll post about it because hey, it's not a shitty turn of events unless friends and strangers alike can read about it.
Booted the brother out of the house. He'd gotten plenty of chances and fucked everyone of them up. The final straw was stealing around $2000 worth of stuff from me. Hell, I'm still looking around and finding stuff missing.
The tally so far:
N64 + controllers + games (yeah, it's a really old system, not the point.) He originally took it and said he was borrowing it so he and his friends could play it. That was at least a year ago.
PC games: Max Payne, NOX, Neverwinter Nights, Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon. I'm sure there's more, but until I remember it, look through everything and say "Wait a minute..." I'll leave it off the list.
XBox controller
All my XBox games:
Batman: Vengeance, Beyond Good & Evil, Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Halo, Jet Set Radio Future, MechAssault, Ninja Gaiden, Sega GT 2002, Spider-man, Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandorra Tomorrow, Star Wars: KOTOR, Superman (It disappeared before the rest, but it's gone nonetheless. Not that I mind that one, it sucked, just that I payed for it.) And WWE Raw 2.
PS2 Controller
My handful of PS2 games:
Tenchu, Rise to Honor, WWE Smackdown, Devil May Cry 2, (there are more that I can't recall at the moment)
My two Family Guy DVD boxsets.
My GBA SP. All my GBA games:
Metroid Fusion, Super Mario 3, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Boktai.
Just thought I'd get a list together so I know what's missing and what I have to replace.
I'm sure the list will be added to
